Founder Background

Personal Profile

Jerry Thomas created Hope for Heroes due to his associations and background with the military and first responders.  Jerry served in the Army as an Infantryman (airborne, ranger, air assault, war planner, etc.) for 20 years.  Jerry’s father served 22 years as a military policeman in the United States Army.   His father was wounded in Vietnam (received purple heart, bronze star with V device among other awards).  Jerry’s brother served with the police department after high school, retired, and now works as the Deputy Commander of the largest police academy in Alabama.  His brother was also injured during his service.  Because of his family’s service as military veterans and first responders, and more importantly, seeing others serving as first responders and in the military that have had unmet needs because of injuries and other situations, Hope for Heroes was established.
